Fell and Mountain Running Club

The meeting was held after the Waun Fach race. It was not recorded who was present/absent and whether any apologies were received.

Chairman's Report

Chairman Andrew Dickens thought that the club had a very good year, we had grown and all looked very positive.

Secretary Emma Bayliss gave a brief report. The club currently has approx 75 paid up members with a few regulars still to pay ( she has the naughty list!!!!).

Treasurer's Report

Treasurer Tom Mollekin stated that the clubs finances were looking healthy and if anyone wanted a detailed report he could provide it.

Emma would amend all new members [committee members??] of the club to admin on Facebook in order to promote and keep the club looking active and healthy.

Weekly training runs

It was discussed that due to a lot of new members it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep the group together. It was agreed that whenever possible we will have 2 run leaders. Either starting early or using a slightly shorter route with the aim of us all being back at a similar time for a post run de-brief and refreshment in the nearest pub.


Andy asked if the club could maybe get some funding to allow members to do some training towards first aid and run leaders. Emma had applied for a grant of £1000 from Sport Wales (which has just come back as approved). Emma will advertise what courses are on offer and if anyone would like to do one.


A number of members have expressed an interest in improving their navigation recently. Emma agreed to look into this by seeing what is on locally, including navigation courses, orienteering events and maybe a few weds training runs as nav training.


Tom asked if we could maybe do afew different things on weds, e.g. hill reps or speed work. This will be looked into and advertised when it happens.

Fell relays

Emma stated that we have 3 teams (18 people) entered and more than that number signed up to run. This would be good as no doubt we will get injuries and drop-outs for various reasons. The team will be picked closer to the time but nearly everyone signed up should get a run. Emma stated that she would look into bunkhouse-style accommodation, and asked people to let her know if they wanted accommodation.


Emma suggested a club weekend to the Isle of Jura fell race. She would find out when entries open and seek out interest then.

Dragons back

Andy asked if anyone was interested in a Dragons back recce. He said he would be happy to help organise it if a few others were on board with him. We await further info.
